What inspired you to start your brand?

When I became a mom, I knew I wanted to find a way to build something of my own while still being present for my daughter. I didn't want to have to choose between pursuing my ambitions and spending those precious early years with her. I wanted the flexibility to be there for the little moments while also creating something I could be proud of.

How has your immigrant journey shaped your business?

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland United States when I was 27, following love and the hope of finding better opportunities. While I'm not technically an immigrant, leaving behind the place I had always called home was a big change.

What challenges did you face building your brand?

One of the biggest challenges I've faced has been access to funding. I've built Virgo & Gem primarily through my own financial resources, reinvesting what I earn back into the business. While I'm proud of what I've accomplished, growing a beauty brand without outside funding has been incredibly challenging.

What are you most proud of?

What makes me most proud is seeing customers genuinely love the products I've created. There's something incredibly rewarding about seeing someone share a beautiful manicure they did themselves, especially when they once believed they could never achieve those results at home.

What makes your brand unique?

What makes Virgo & Gem unique is our attention to the little details that make a big difference when doing your own nails. From our specially designed liquid bottles that help prevent brushes from getting stuck, to formulas that are easy to work with and deliver long-lasting results, every detail is chosen with the at-home user in mind.

What does being part of FEMMENAS mean to you?

Being part of Femmenas means having the opportunity to share not just my products, but the story behind them. As a Puerto Rican woman building a business in the United States, I appreciate platforms that recognize the hard work, sacrifices, and determination that often go unseen behind a brand.
